Saturday, Feb. 12th, 2011 is the date, it's 7 weeks away. That's plenty of time to organize our next birthday shoot/cookout. We will be celebrating at least two birthdays, tdyoung and shadowcat187 (I hope you guys can both make it). Are there any others we can add to the list?
What's on the menu this time? We have a deep fryer and peanut oil, a grill and lots of propane, lets get it organized.

Dill and sweet both sound good. I wouldn't mind trying broccoli and cauliflower too. I need to find a basket and/or a ladle to go with the kettle. I'll be checking eBay and Amazon but if anyone has any good leads I'm willing to listen. Less expensive is better, I don't need top of the line but I don't want to buy Chinese junk.

I hope we can set this one in stone. I can make it on the 12th But I will not be able to make it if the date is changed to the 13th. Eagle arms has a gun show, and I need to tear it down on Sunday.
Jim, Bacon sounds awesome, and so do the pickles.
Jim L, I still have a turkey that needs done up.

I decided on the 12th based on the information I got that told me that tdyoung would be able to make it on the 12th and not the 13, and he's one of the birthday boys. Shadowcat187 also says that the 12th is good for him, he's the other birthday boy. Since tdy couldn't make it to the last one I had no choice but to declare the official date to be 02/12/2011. I'm looking for a basket or a ladle type strainer to use for retrieving the smaller goodies, (like bacon, pickles, veggies), from the vat but I guess I'm not searching the right key words. I thought surely I'd find one or the other on eBay for a reasonable price but I come up empty every time I search. The closest I've found so far is at Gander Mountain and the description doesn't give a hint as to the size of it. I don't want to spend $15.00 plus shipping to get something that's too small to be practical. All of the fry baskets that I'm finding have a handle that won't allow it to go deep enough into the vat unless we add a lot more oil. Does anyone have a suggestion about where to look or what to search for? I know they're out there somewhere.
